Upon successful completion of the four-year course of training, the graduates acquire a bachelor degree and are certified as engineers in technology of ship repairs. After a short master degree programme in Ship Machinery, the graduates can acquire certificates for Third Ship Engineers; with this they can occupy the positions of an Engineer of the Watch in the Engine Room or Engineer on Duty on merchant ships with no limitation of the power of the ship plant, Second Engineer on ships with propulsion plant power of up to 3,000 kW, First Engineers on ships with propulsion plant power of up to 3,000 kW on the Inland Waterways of Europe.
The graduates can also be appointed on a number of managerial positions within the industry of ship repairs and shipbuilding.
