The course of academic studies at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy covers Bachelor - 4 academic years and Master - after Bachelor’s degree. The training period for the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees is provided on a full-time or extra-mural basis.
Students receive the qualification of “engineer-navigator”, “ship-power-plant engineer”, “shipboard radioelectronics”, ”ship electrical engineering”, “shipping and port operations”, “ship repair technology” and “ocean engineering”.
The graduates of the Naval Academy are issued with Diplomas and European Diploma Supplement (DS) in compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Bulgaria
The annual tuition fees for foreign citizens from EU Member States and EEA (European Economic Area) EFTA Member States is given in the table below and can be paid in one or two instalments .

The annual tuition fees for foreign citizens from non EU Member States can be paid in one or two instalments: for this academic year they are: 2, 9 00 EUR per year for full-time students; 2, 9 00 EUR for full-time postgraduate students, 1, 74 0 EUR for extra-mural students; 1, 74 0 EUR for extra-mural postgraduate students and 3 0 00 EUR for the Bulgarian language preparatory course. We require 12 (twelve) years of school study prior to admission to the academy. The language of instruction is Bulgarian and therefore the one-year Bulgarian language preparatory course is obligatory. The annual tuition fees do not include the onboard internship.
The academic year starts on 1 October and ends at the beginning of June followed by a period of academic examinations until the middle of July.
All documents of the applicants are approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia. For that purpose we should receive the following documents by DHL:
1. COPY OF THE COLLEGE / SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE AND ITS SUPPLEMENT accompanied by its translation into English both duly legalized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Applicant's country and the Bulgarian Embassy in Applicant's country (original stamps and seals)
2. MEDICAL HEALTH CERTIFICATE (original) stating that the applicant is clinically and mentally healthy (valid 1 month after issue) and accompanied by its translation into English both duly legalized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Applicant's country and the Bulgarian Embassy in Applicant's country (original stamps and seals)
